Citing his “Commitment to fighting for better public transit options for South Shore residents” ATU Local 726 formally endorses Joe Borelli in the 62nd Assembly District
Staten Island, NY – Standing in front of the Yukon Bus Depot, Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU) Local 726 President Danny Cassella, his leadership team, and ATU members, formally endorsed Joe Borelli (R, C, I) in the race to replace Lou Tobacco in the 62nd Assembly District.
“Joe Borelli has time and time again demonstrated his commitment to fighting for better public transit options for South Shore residents,” said Cassella. “Among the victories Joe has helped achieve have been his work helping to enhance express bus routes, such as the X22a and his efforts to dramatically increase the number of Park and Ride options for commuters throughout the South Shore. The ATU is proud to endorse Joe Borelli and looks forward to working with him in Albany.”
Borelli said, “I have a great deal of experience working with Danny and the good men and women of the ATU. I am humbled by their support. We have achieved some strong victories, and I look forward to continuing the work we have started increasing mass transit options for South Shore residents.”
“Working with the leadership of the ATU, we were able to enhance service to the South Shore through the improvement of several routes. Our mutual goals have long been in tune. We both want to have commuters get to Manhattan as quickly and safely as possible, and I think Staten Islanders should be on the lookout for more improvements to Park and Ride service,” concluded Borelli.
