Assemblyman Joe Borelli (R,C,I-South Shore) was joined by a bipartisan coalition of state legislators, police unions and organizations at a press conference earlier today discussing the efforts of the Blue Lives Matter organization. Blue Lives Matter is a nonprofit organization created to help the families of fallen and injured law enforcement officers.

“I’m proud to announce the Blue Lives Matter Organization’s founding and to promote their noble statewide mission,” said Borelli. “Blue Lives Matter was selflessly created to help the families of law enforcement officers in their time of need. Our law enforcement officers risk their lives day in and day out to keep our communities safe. It’s time we give back to them and show our support for the courageous work they do for us; that’s why I’m proud to support Blue Lives Matter.”

Blue Lives Matter is a 501c5 organization whose primary mission is to raise money for the families of law enforcement officers in the line of duty throughout the country. The organization was started in December 2014 by Joe Imperatrice, a nine-year New York Police Department (NYPD) veteran, and several other NYPD officers following the assassinations of NYPD officers Wenjian Liu and Rafael Ramos and began selling bracelets to raise money for the families of the fallen officers. The charity officially launched in January 2015 and continues to grow. To learn more about Blue Lives Matter, please visit their Web site or find them on Facebook.
