The largest benefit for community members, even those whom do not reside in Tottenville, but do travel through this intersection is the completion of the widening and resurfacing project. The intersection had once attracted numerous complaints and concerns for its heavy congestion, but the new road resurfacing is providing a natural ease in traffic flow with added turning lanes and pull-off areas to remove busses from the lane of traffic during pickups.
Council Member Borelli said, “I’m happy to see an end finally in sight for passengers and Tottenville residents. These developments to the area have been in the works for quite some time, and I’m enthusiastic that the sewer additions, road widening and resurfacing projects will alleviate some of those traffic concerns and finally give drivers and residents some peace of mind.”
“Thanks to this Page Avenue Sewer Project, the South Shore is finally getting the infrastructure it needs and I am grateful to see it is nearing completion. The conditions created by this work caused a great deal of frustration and stress, but there was simply no way to avoid them if we wish to modernize our borough, and prevent a breakdown of our infrastructure that would make this inconvenience seem like a walk in the park,” said Borough President Oddo.
